Pure Exhaustion

Oh.My.Goodness!  It is amazing how the human body protects itself.  I promise that if we moms remembered how exhausting a newborn baby was, we would never have more, but somehow we forget the sleepless nights, the aching body, the tears (oh all the tears), being hot, being cold, learning to nurse, and then you throw a two year old into the mix.  Oh.My.Goodness.

But oh so worth it.

Life with two is proving to be quite a juggling act.  Kirby is so great with her and wants to give her hugs and kisses and when she cries he is very aware of it and wants to help her.  He is a great big brother, but he is a little sensitive and I think really misses his mommy's 100% attention.  I feel that with all the nursing and pumping and nursing and pumping, I am just plopping him in front of the television all hours of the day, but I know deep down that we are currently in survival mode and just need to keep on keepin' on.  Of course, he is too young to remember any of this so hopefully that will help too!!!

Susanna Rose is doing well.  She has her nights and days confused, and I'm really ready for her to figure that out.  haha.  I love to sleep, but I also love to see her eyes, and I don't see those much during the day.  She loves to party from about 10-2.  Kirby was a party animal from 8-midnight if I remember correctly.  As of yesterday, she hadn't put any weight on since we had left the hospital, which has just had this worry wart all to pieces (remember the tears I mention above).  She was 8.11 when she was born, and 8.4 when we left the hospital on Thursday, 4/18.  Until yesterday, 4/26, she was still 8.4.  She weighed in yesterday at 8.5,. and that one little ounce made this momma very happy.  I'm hopeful she will continue to pack on the pounds.

We have some visitors scheduled to help us out and come meet SR.  Kelly, Brittany, and Anna were here this weekend while Keith was on call, which has been awesome!!!  I took a nap yesterday, I took a shower, and I even slept for a full straight 3 hour stretch.  YES!!!!  Kelly has done laundry, fed SR bottles, managing even several big spews!  I cannot thank her enough for helping me feel like a human today.  The girls have entertained Kirby so much, teaching him his new phrase - Oh.My.Goodness.  :)  He has loved having them here.  We went to the park and threw the biggest rocks into the stream, went down slides, and went swinging on the swings, and we even partied with a pizza and cupcake dinner.  He has been in heaven.

My parents are on the way here to help us out, and then the fabulous MIL will be here in a week to help once Keith starts nights.  In addition, my awesome MOMS group has put together 8 nights of meals to help out as well.  It seriously does take a village, and I'm so grateful for all the helping hands.

So, we have almost survived our first 2 weeks and if I remember correctly, every day gets a little easier, and I'm hoping that it continues.  More than anything, this controlling momma just needs to remember to roll with the flow and take it as it comes.  I can do this!  I can do this.  I remember thinking that I couldn't do it with one and that I was doing a bad job when Kirby was a baby, but somehow I pulled it together and really got into a routine with Kirby, and I know I can do the same with both of them.
