Easter Blessings

Wow.  Been a bit remiss lately on my blogging!!

Easter has come and gone.  I believe Easter will always be a special spiritual season for me as I look back on my reception into the Catholic Church.  I will always be reminded of that special occasion for me and my little family each year.

I feel like we celebrated Easter for weeks at our house.  We started with a little decorating of the house.  Kirby helped me hang some eggs on our tree, and we ate jelly beans for days.  YUMMmmmm!

We started our Easter celebrations with the annual Easter Egg hunt at our Church.  If I recall correctly, my MOMS group and I provided and stuffed the goodies for 5000 eggs with the help of many volunteers.  This year we added a breakfast and had a photo shoot opp with the Bunny, which was not a big hit with our little dude.  :)  Of course, when we were driving away, he cried and said, "Bye bye to Bunny."  I think he was conflicted about talking to that scary creature!

Thousands of eggs....and they were seriously gone in about 10 minutes.

Check out that heavy basket.

Checking out our loot.  Yummmmm, what candies did Kirby get for Momma and Dada??

Kirby's reaction to the Bunny.  Not so sure.
Kirby had another chance to meet the bunny at our annual cul-de-sac egg hunt, but he had the same feelings towards the big guy.  He would only get so close and stretch his hand out to him and say "Hi Bunny."  and then "Bye Bunny."  He did not want to approach him at all.  We hunted eggs with our neighbors.  Just for our little street, they hid over 290 eggs.  We have so many kiddos on our street.  Our home and its location is such a blessing.  We are surrounded by so many amazing people.  Kirby was less interested in hunting the eggs this go around.  He only found 5 eggs.  Why did he find so few?  We spent all our time opening and eating the chocolates that he learned were in the eggs!!  He figured it out.  When Memaw asked him later what color eggs he found at his egg hunt, he cleverly responded, "chocolate."  Smart boy!!!

We woke up Easter morning and put Kirby on a grand egg hunt throughout the whole house.  Same thing, he wanted to eat every goody he found.  He filled his basket, and then he was done when he found the Lightning McQueen and Sally cars that the Easter Bunny cleverly left for him.  How did the Bunny know just how much Kirby likes CARS?  We followed the egg hunt with some cinnamon rolls and then a beautiful mass, where Kirby did great!  He's really beginning to do better at mass.  He is still squirmy and a little talkative here and there, but we have to take him out much less than we had to.  He is aware of Mary and Jesus, shakes hands and "hands the peace" to our neighbors, sings "Glory God" and even sometimes sneaks in a snuggle with momma.  Otherwise, he is happy with his snack and juice.  Yes, I've become that parent who packs snacks at mass.  I never thought I'd do it.

Finding the first egg
Opening the first egg
Mmmmmmm...so many more eggs.

I couldn't get a good picture of him.  His eyes were on the prize the whole morning.
And he's done.  Time to play with "MaKween and Sawwwy"
Happy Easter, everybody, from the Hollisters.
