"Yaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy!!"

Today Kirby and I went to the library for Toddler Bunny Hop.  Story time, songs, and play.  We haven't been since late spring.  I must admit, Bunny Hop used to kinda frustrate and stress me out.  We would go, and Kirby would immediately run to the toys while all the other little children - both older and younger than he - would sit in their respective moms' laps and listen to the story and sing along with the songs.  BUT not my little busy boy.  I would try to keep him in my lap, and he would squirm and whine.  I'd try to let him roam around, and he'd distract everyone while he went to the toys and then cry when I removed him from them.  Oy.

So, today, we tried it again.  It is going to be too cold around here soon for our typical outside play, and I have got to find good indoor activities for us during the day to tire this fireball out.  He was awesome.  We read a book that we have, "Where is Baby's Pumpkin?"  When we first got there, Kirby was up to his usual running around, but then all of a sudden, he stood in the center of the room and watched as the lady read the book.  A couple of times, he went straight up to her and touched the book - of course, the only kid to do this!  And he got a little upset over the Thomas the Train toy that another boy had brought with him.  But once the songs started, he was mesmerized!  He clapped his hands, stomped his feet, turned around, and shouted the loudest HOORAY in the group.  His wheels on the bus were spinning so fast, and he was the best SHUSHer there was.  Oh, and his twinkle fingers were extra bright.  And after every song, he would give his signature, "YAAAaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy!" with big claps of approval.  I laughed the whole morning and my heart was filled with joy.  Then the toys came out, and he played with best of them!

Seriously, this one morning made up for ALL the previous fits during our last visits.  I can't wait for our next visit next week!
