I arrived at the hospital to complete paperwork - insurance, identification, and the works. Then I met with a nurse for medical history - mine and family - and even met with an anesthesiologist to work on that paperwork so that when it is time for epidural, they can act fast with no paperwork to slow them down. So, mark that off the list. We are ready for D-Day. I guess perhaps I should pack my bag now.
Now, as for the office visit, I always thought I would be a modest little pregnant momma-to-be and spare everyone the details, but I guess I was wrong. (Hey, I also said I was going to eat ultra-extreme healthy - veggies and fruits and whole grains. Don't ask me about the Wendy's I had for dinner on Tuesday night!). So, my not-so-modest review of the doctor's appointment. The doctor was pleased with our progress. I am personally pleased that I will no longer have blood tests - no more pricks of the finger or blood drawn. I guess I'm tapering off before all the IVs and epidurals. Yikes! The baby's heartbeat was 150, and for any of you trying to determine what sex this child is based on the wives' tails of heart rate, you will agree with me that this child is cooperating with his/her parents to help us keep the surprise/excitement of D-day because he has been all across the board! Thanks for that, little one. Just when I think I want to know what you are - whether I'll be using our girl's name or our boy's name - you throw me a curve ball and make me second-guess my vote. Then they did a pelvic exam. I must say, I was fully anticipating a pelvic at every visit over the past 8 months - not knowing what to expect and all - so I'm relieved that this was the first I've had to have. It was less than comfortable I must say, but the doctor did identify that the baby is head down (yay!...stay there little guy!) and that I have thinned out (whatever that means) AND that I have dilated 1cm (yay!!!! I'm 1 cm). Of course, I'll probably stay at 1cm for the next 5 weeks and be a week late, but let me enjoy this teensy, eensy little unit of measurement for now! It was a good visit, and I'm looking forward to next week and hopeful for just a little more progress. Fingers crossed.
THEN, our rocker-glider for the nursery arrived at the store. Hoorah. Keith and I made a trip back into Boone's Creek to the store with the fabulous "Uncle D" to pick up the rocker. Thanks, D, for your wheels and your guns (muscles, that is) to help Keith get that chair in the room for me. It is perfect. I love it and cannot wait to sit with the wee one in it - even late at night. Check it out. Now we need to hang our pictures and shelves, and we are about D-O-N-E!
Ummmmm, some assembly required. So glad I married a handy (and oh-soooo handsome) man!!! :)
Finished product.
Isn't it perfection? And you should sit in it....comfy!! Not much longer, and I won't sit in it by myself!
The room looks great and ready for the little Hollister! It could be anytime now....
ReplyDeleteAunt KJ can't wait! Love ya!
Go for lots of walks these last few weeks. I was 1cm from 37 weeks until a few days before Alessia was born. Walking (among other things) helped her come on time - and I think helped me feel better and recover easily.
