Lenten preschooler practices

This Lent I've been trying to be intentional about keeping Christ as our focus. Lent is kinda a hard season to explain to kids in my humble opinion. I was excited when I received an email from Kirby's school with about forty different GOOD Lenten ideas for preschoolers. I carried forward our good deed beans from last year, and this year our Lenten prayer chain is new.

I'm excited that perhaps this year Kirby is old enough to understand the idea that our good deeds towards others bears fruit for us as well. Maybe when he finds that his good deed beans have turned to yummy jelly beans he will. And if not this year, maybe next.

On Ash Wednesday, I sat with the kids and they gave me forty different things or people to pray for - one for each day of Lent. Some are silly. Some are excellent. I've loved watching them work through saying a prayer and talking to God. I'm learning right alongside them. Funny how our Amal people can help us grow in our own faith!!!!  What a gift.
