So many stories to recount

Seems like every day, there are conversations (yes, conversations even with my 2.5 year old...how is that possible) that I have with these two or that they have with each other that can kinda make me bipolar.  I can be laughing out loud at them one moment and blazing, steaming hot mad the next.  So many stories I know someday I will forget even though I think I never will.  Shoot, I can't even recall some of them later in the evening with Keith gets home.

Kirby was sitting with me one day while I was applying my makeup and scrambling to get myself ready to get out the door.  He asked me what makeup was.  Such a good question.  He's really full of good questions these days, honestly, some of which I have NO good answer.  Anyhow, I told him something about how it is kinda silly but that mommies wear it to make themselves prettier.  He looked at me and cocked his head to the side and said, "but you're already pretty."  Melt.  Thanks, Bud.

Today at lunch, Susanna Rose asks me if I am nice.  I told her I thought I was and asked her if she thought I was, a door which I should NOT have opened.  She said, "No, you're not nice...Dad is nice though."  Sarcastic fist pump held high.

Every morning the kids ask me where Keith is.  This man works hard, I tell ya.  I tell them that he is at work.  Kirby asked me one particular morning why.  I proceeded to tell him about the different gifts/talents that God has blessed us all with and that Daddy's gift is making people feel better and that there are a lot of sick people who need his help.  He told me he wanted to be a doctor when he grew up.  I asked him what kind, and he told me a "surgery kind," and Susanna Rose said, "the blue kind."  Haha.  I think she was referring to the scrubs he wears.  I asked Kirby what he thought my gift or talent was, and he told me, "being a mommy."  Melt again.

Susanna Rose's favorite song right now, among many, is Please Come to Boston.  It is such a special time between her and Keith because I don't know the song.  She wants it every night - either a video of it or for Keith to sing it.  I love to hear her sing along with him as he sings it.  Love it.

This afternoon, Kirby asked Susanna Rose if she wanted to be an angel someday.  She said quickly and enthusiastically NO.  I kinda frowned a little and had a heavy heart.  She must not understand.  And then she followed it with, "but I'm not in heaven yet."  And then we had a chat about how we are all good enough to be angels in heaven with God.  It is so hard but so fulfilling teaching them about our Lord and his Grace.

Last week at mass (and I've been waiting for this one), during the Hosanna, Susanna Rose looked at me and asked, "Why they are signing about me?"  Girlfriend, I've got news for you.  Alllllll these people don't come here every week for you.  hahaha.

I have got to make a better habit of jotting down these funny stories.  Usually they are sweet and touching and smart and inquisitive from Kirby.  And usually they are pee your pants funny from Susanna Rose.  She is so funny right now.  The inflection in her voice.  The way she cocks her head to the side.  Her entire presentation.  She cracks me up and kinda makes me crazy in every breath.  haha.

Love these two turkeys.

  1. I know another little girl from years ago that thought they were singing about her in church when she heard "Hosanna". That little girl was Susanna Rose's mother, Mary Susanne.
