Little potty girl

Since early this summer, Susanna Rose has been begging to wear panties. In my haste to be out of diapers in this house, I threw some on her and tried the three day boot camp potty training bit. Fail. She just wanted the accessories, not to do the work. We gave that another try later in the summer. Another fail. Ever since, I've just been entertaining her requests to go, which are rarely at home; always at target or Kroger or church (you know, the obligatory homily potty break, right???). Well over the past two weeks, she has been asking and staying dry throughout the days. We've even graduated to pull ups this week with dry days including a five hour visit to the zoo. She will do anything for a "mike 'n Ike" or a "sour catch kid". Oh and pooping in the potty earns her painted toe nails. We've had one success but nothing since. Next time she does, she gets her panties.  She loves her painted toes and keeps asking everyone if they like her toes. 

It really is a hard phase, potty training. And as much as it throws me off schedule and can be aggravating, I have found it with both kids to be so gratifying and so rewarding and so much fun. The look on her face sitting on that big potty...a big grin from ear to ear and then a big donut smile as she tinkles. She is so proud and so excited to flush the toilet and wash her hands. She "can do it" and wants to do it all by herself, from dragging the lighting McQueen stool to the potty (grunting and saying under her breath that she is so strong) and putting the paw patrol potty seat on the toilet seat; from dragging the stool back to the sink and washing her hands to pulling all the clothes back up. And then we all have to do the pee pee in the potty dance and have a treat. It really is so much fun. So keep it up, big girl, so diapers can be a thing of our past!!!!!
