My goodness. I guess your baby turns one, and suddenly you have nothing else to write. So not the truth. What really has happened is LIFE. Suddenly my baby turned one, and he is more of a handful with every passing day.
It seems like in the few weeks since Kirby's birthday he has picked up sooo much and is really figuring things out. I see signs of frustrations on his face because he knows what he wants and as he whines and points a la Lloyd Christmas. It is as if the light bulb has switched, and he is comprehending so much more. He reaches for his toothbrush when I ask if he wants to brush his teeth. He cries when we say it is time for Nigh Night. He reaches at the bananas and screams NaNaNa. He says ILK for milk, and thank God he is finally drinking that milk! He nursed his last on Wednesday, 3/22, and it was a good day, but he wasn't doing much drinking from his sippy cup, I mean, he wasn't drinking anything. After a few days and unsaturated diapers and a phone call with the ped nurse, we skipped a meal to get him drinking, and it worked. I'm not proud that I took that route, but I'm glad it worked, and that he now loves his milk. Well, he likes his milk mixed with vanilla soymilk. We are working on just milk now!!! Kirby is doing so much better at daycare, which is good because I'll be picking up some more hours as I have recently taken a new job that will begin 4/1...no joke. :) I will be running and swimming coach for "Multi-Fit". I'm very excited about this new job. Don't try to enter or exit the garage without letting him push the garage door button. And passing a light switch without allowing him to flip the switch is not acceptable. He has his own "cabinet" in the kitchen. He takes everything out of it and then sits in it. Of course, isn't that what everyone does with a cabinet? He loves to play in the fridge, too. Two days ago, he was sucking on a cut onion he found in the vegetable drawer. He takes things out of the door and into drawers and back and forth. When I ask him for his paci in the morning or after naps, he takes it out of his mouth and tosses it into his crib, and without tears. Recently he is attempting to use a spoon and a fork. I've seen him pick up the food with his fingers, put it on the fork, and then put the fork to his mouth. Usually he just likes to chew or teeth on the handle of the fork. And with all this big boy activity, now we just need to get him acting like a big boy at church!!!! :)
Ahhhh, my little man is doing such big boy things, and I'm lovin' every minute of it.

ReplyDeleteI can only imagine how satisfied Kirby will be and hope to be around when he is old enough to read, understand, and appreciate these comments about his life. He is no doubt fortunate to have such a caring, attentive, and loving Mom.
I love you Susanne. You are turning out to be a better Mom than you were a daughter, and you were a very wonderful daughter being a daughter that any father would be proud to call his own. On both fronts I was fortunate as a father and now as a Deda.
Love,
Dad/Deda
