Summer Visits , a Growing Boy, and the Beginning

The beginning of summer brought grandparents and more grandparents our way.  We were excited for both our parents to come see our new home and town and, of course, play with a certain little cutie.

We enjoyed a long visit with my Mom and Dad, including a dinner with my mom's cousin, a Father's Day celebration, and even a night out for dinner for Keith and me.  It was great.  Thanks you guys for making the trip.  Mom, thank you for your gardening/yardwork expertise and especially for your Chocotinis.  MMmmmmm, yummy.  Dad, thanks for the first stroll with Kirby and rocking him to sleep for naps.

I don't have many pictures of me and my boy.  I'm usually behind the camera.  Here we are all dressed up to visit my mom's cousin.

Our little family.

Happy Father's Day.

The following weekend Keith's parents arrived.  Keith and I are so blessed that we both enjoy our in-laws, honestly enjoy to be with them.  We are started with a grill-night with Keith's fraternity brothers, Burke and Chad, and their families.  Gary and Judy hadn't seen them since our wedding so it was a nice visit.  We spent each morning relaxing with a cup of coffee, a muffin, and kisses from one cute little boy.  Keith and I headed out Saturday night for an intern welcome picnic and left wee-one with Grandma and Grandpa.  Thank you guys for making the trip, helping us out, and visiting with us.  The conversation is always good!!  Gary, thanks for taking care of the carpets...they look brand new.  I should be shot because I did not keep my camera out enough to capture the wonderful weekend we had.

So summer is here, and I'm looking for fabulous ways to entertain Kirby and keep constantly learning about the world around him.  As an allergy-sufferer, I view the great outdoors as my enemy.  I've decided that I don't want my son to not enjoy relaxing outside just because I don't care for it.  So we're heading outdoors every day, weather permitting.  We might as well enjoy this fabulous backyard we have!  We haul out the toys and protect them from Quillen, who has a affinity for baby toys that rattle, jingle, or crinkle, for an afternoon in the shade.     :)

Someone sometimes finds his feet.

I'm thinking he loves it.

Summer feet.

I could eat him up on a biscuit.

"Hello, funny parrot."  He loves this one piece on his exersaucer.  He sits and stares at it and sometimes cracks up.

Today Keith and I both began our new jobs.  He headed out this morning for orientation, and I was officially at home with Kirby.  Even though Kirby is almost 4 months old, and I haven't been at work since he was born, I haven't really been SAHM by myself with him.  Keith and I have been so blessed to have had little to no responsibility for the first four months of our first baby's life - four months that I'll never forget nor would I ever trade.  I must admit that I've been dreading this day because I knew it marked the beginning of five very long and hard years for Keith, and I'd be lying if I didn't admit that I'm very scared of it.  I've gotten very used to having him home with us every day and maybe even taking the boy so the Momma can catch a quick nap :) and I sometimes I fear I can't do it by myself without him here to help me and love on Kirby.  I love watching Keith with Kirby and hearing that laugh Kirby gives with only his Dad.

So we both clocked in this AM to our new jobs.  I hope your first day was as good as mine.  Cheers to an amazing and special four months together, babe!!!! And CHEERS to the beginning of your residency; the fulfilment of a dream.  We're proud of you.  We miss you already.  Will you be home for breakfast, lunch, and dinner tomorrow?  Hahaha.

  2. Ah, Mary, you are going to do great!! Look at you- you already are! I know it will be tough when Keith is gone, but as Kirby grows he will get more active and your days will be busy. You know wine helps, right? You will treasure the moments as a family like no other. God is good!
