The Hollisters - Keith, Mary, and Kirby

The Hollisters - Keith, Mary, and Kirby

We prayed for this child and the Lord has granted us what we asked of Him...

It was Father's Day, June 20, 2010, and I wasn't feeling very good.  I decided to pick up a pregnancy test during my weekly grocery store visit while Keith was at the library.  I came home and took this test and to my disbelief, this test read PREGNANT.  Now, for those of you who know me well, you know that this apple did not fall far from the tree - sorry mom - and that I am quite the emotional girl so you would probably support me when I say that I always thought that I would have been an emotional wreck over this moment in my life.  I sat on the toilet staring at that little stick with my mouth wide open and ultimately putting my hands on my head.  How could I finally have something I've been wanting for so long?  So many thoughts were swimming through my head.  So many thoughts.  Oh my gosh!  I had to tell Keith.  I figured it was his first Father's Day and that he needed his first Father's Day gift.  I quickly ran to WalMart and picked up a card, a baby bib that read "I love my Daddy" and a set of onesies.  I rushed home and jazzed up his gift and wrote my sweetest note in his first Father's Day card.  I sat and waited patiently for his return home.  Finally he arrived home, and he was surprised to see me still awake on a night before work.  I think he knew something was up immediately.  I shoved the gift bag in his face.  It was the most amazing moment of our married lives together thus far.  I will never forget the look of disbelief on his face, and I must admit that I was quite relieved that he had such a similar response as I did - gaping mouth and hands on head.  He was speechless.  We hugged and giggled and started trying to figure out how far along I was.  God is good.  Life is good.  Keith and I are going to be parents.  Thank God I am going to be the mother of this man's children.  I've never felt so close to him or so in love with him as I have since that very moment.  It almost feels like as my belly gets bigger, I'm reminded of my love for Keith and how thankful I am for the blessings in my life.
We went home the weekend of August 13 to share the good news with our families.  After sharing with parents, brothers, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and grandmothers, we quickly got on the phone to call close friends, and the good news spread.

We've been keeping pictures of the belly.  I'll keep you updated as it expands.

14 weeks, 6 days.
So here starts my blog.  As I create it tonight I am exactly 16 weeks.  I am enjoying my pregnancy thus far and anticipating the upcoming weeks and months - from every tired, achy moment to every kick and hiccup - and especially to the arrival of Baby Hollister.
