Kirby is in this state of totalities these days. Is that even a word? He says ALWAYS and NEVER and ALL and NONE ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL the time. "You NEVER let us ride on the train at the zoo." Oh that's funny. Pretty sure we rode on it the last time we were there. "You ALWAYS say NO." Oh, that's funny. Aren't you eating a big fatty ice cream cone that you asked for, and I said YES. It drives me bananas. I know, I know, I shouldn't let four year old and two year old behaviors get me, but it is really hard sometimes. This speak is right up there with everything being my fault these days. That's a whole nother post for a whole nother day.
So, I've been trying really hard and really patiently to teach him that we shouldn't say ALWAYS, NEVER, NONE, ALL. You know. Those exclusive terms. We are making a little progress with it until just a few nights ago.
I was putting him to bed, and Kirby looked up to me and asked, "Mom, will I ALWAYS be yours?" Now, there's a time you can say ALWAYS buddy. I told him an emotional "Yes, Yes, you will ALWAYS be mine," and he followed that up with a big big hug (and honestly, he gives the best hugs that I hope I never forget) and a heartfelt, "Mom, I will ALWAYS love you." Love his sweet sweet heart.
And now the whole you should never say always is out the window.
