O Boy Woom

This weekend we celebrated Kirby's second birthday with grandparents galore and lots of friends (pics and post to come), and last night, I tucked my baby into a big boy bed  in his "O Boy Woom" as Kirby calls it.  Where has the time gone?

He did AWESOME.  I've kinda been dreading this day.  I think part of me was sad to say goodbye to one of the last baby things he still did.  I was also dreading the possibility of long nights as he struggled to sleep in a new surrounding.  I couldn't have done it better myself.  He was none to happy at first, and he cried for about 10 minutes, which is a typical even in his crib, and then he quietly sang his ABCs and nursery rhymes as he typically does, and then we didn't hear from him until his morning wake up.  We went to check on him before we went to bed, and he had gotten out from underneath the covers, and his head was at the foot of the bed.  I covered him with a blankie.  Then I checked on him again about 2ish, and his forehead was on the footboard so I moved him back the right way and covered him up.  He looked so tiny in that big bed.  We had told him that he couldn't get out of the bed without Mommy and Daddy...that he needed to call for us to get down.  This morning I heard him over the monitor saying, "Mommy, Daddy...get down fra ma bed."  Love that little boy!!!!  He napped well today in it as well.  Beginners luck, or is this transition going much more smoothly than I was anticipating?
