Crazy stay at home day today. Tuesday's are the only morning every week when we don't have anywhere to be. It is our Jammie day.
We had colored. Played pretend. Had breakfast. We were about to color some more when Quillen began begging to go out back like he does five thousand times a day. Susanna rose flew to the door to let him out. Next thing I knew I heard all this ruckus in the "puppy house."
We all three went to the back door, and I raised the curtain to find five birds trapped in our screened in porch. They were do flying EVERYWHERE. Everywhere. Quillen was running around crazy, salivating.
I ran outside with a broom to try and encourage the birds out the door, which had been left open and how they got inside. With the curtain pulled up, the kids watched as Quillen killed two of the birds. Both kids were screaming and crying, terrified, as my scaredy cat self was chasing him around with a broom outside just screaming at the top of my lungs, swatting birds out of his mouth. Birds were flying everywhere and bumping into walls. Feathers were raining down. And I looked like a complete lunatic.
So I had two dead birds - one trapped inside the porch with his two friends just perched over him and the other in the backyard that the dog had taken outside through his dog door.
Later in the day, I thought I saw one of the birds fly out the door. Nope. A huge hawk swooped down and carried off the dead bird that was in the backyard. One less thing for Keith to do when he got home. Kirby looked at me with big eyes and say said, "is the dead bird in his talons?" The circle of life, buddy!!!
I can't make this stuff up. It was an interesting day at home.
