This past weekend, Kirby and I took a little impromptu road trip to St. Louis to visit my college friend, Tara and her daughter, who were in town from Texas. We had a big trip, complete with a girls' night out with the Cards and the bars. It was tons of fun to catch up and so good to finally meet each others' kiddos.
I've been a little remiss from blogging these days, even pictures and videos for that matter. We have been busy these days. I'm still working at the YMCA, keeping my friend's fabulous daughter for the summer, chasing a 17 month old, doing the typical SAHM cooking and cleaning, and now I've taken a part time accounting job working from home. So, a little switch up. I'll be dropping the swim lessons but keeping my hours with Multi-Fit at the Y so I can work these accounting hours. I'm loving working with my laptop and crunching some numbers and making a fancy spreadsheet in Excel. Now the challenge will be fitting in the hours while the young man is sleeping. So that is what's up with me.
Keith is in the second month of his second year. Yay! intern year is over! I think the hours will still continue to be long, but he has already said that he's glad to just not be an intern anymore. He's already enjoying a little more time in the OR, which is always a bonus for the green surgeon!
Kirby is really growing up these days. He's repeating so many words now. He loves to climb on the furniture. He tells me DEAT DEAT DEAT when he's hungry and wants to eat, which these days seems like ALL the time! He loves Cameron, the 8 year old I'm keeping the summer. She'll read him books for naps, and when she leaves, he cries; he cries when he she leaves. He loves her. He still loves the puppy, and acutally all puppies for that matter. He has learned to meow, he moos like a cow, he oinks like a pig, he says baa-a-aa-aa like a sheep, he neighs like a horse, and he says woo wooo for his beloved puppies. He loves to dance!!! They tell me at the Y that he dances like crazy there. He has yet to really cut loose for me like he does for them. I keep trying to catch him on video! He loves Thomas the Train, or Mommy as he calls him. He can "Dooo dooo dooo" along with Keith and me when we sing the theme song, and he gets so excited about the thought of watching the show. Only show he'll really watch. He loves the poo poo poo (translation: pool!). His new favorite book - read at nap and bedtime - is Nigh Nigh Moooooon. Every time he sees the moon on the page, he says "Nigh nigh mooooooooooon." He has become attached to a floppy white bunny and stuffed puppy as well as his bankie. As soon as I saw the attachment, I swooped in and stole the paci. No more paci. So, with the exception of his crib, that is pretty much the last BABY thing. Sad :( He's a little boy. He has just begun to want to walk the stairs holding my hands, not just climb, and apparently, going down the stairs on your belly is no longer in because he wants to walk down them as well. Oy. Makes for a nervous momma. He has learned to nod his head YES and answers me NO. AND my absolute favorite. When he sits at his chair in the kitchen, he folds his little hands as though asking for his prayers. Sometimes we get carried away, and we're eating a snack or dinner, and he'll be sitting there with his sweet little hands folded as though to say, "Uhhhhmmm, Mom. Can you pray???" I'm floored by all the progress this little guy has made since his first birthday! Growing boy! How much fun?!?
So, that's the latest here at Camp Hollister. Life is good! Life is great.

ReplyDeleteDespite all your activities of being a mom, spouse, house keeper, caring for another child, and working two and sometimes three jobs, you appear and sound like you are very happy and satisfied with your life. I am so proud that I can say "You, Mary Susanne are my daughter". Actually, you are my one and only favorite daughter.
